I am looking for a very old file on my PC and I was struggling to find it on my Hard Disk. But later I get to know that, I have sent that file to one of my buddies over Gmail.
I opened my Gmail account and located that exact email with an attachment to download.
I was happy that I got that important file but later I was worried as I found an error message like – “Anti-virus warning – 1 attachment contains a virus or blocked file. Downloading this attachment is disabled. ”
Seems like; you discovered a gold mine but can’t use it as there is no way to dig it ahead. But folks, there is always a way!
I found a method that is I think the easiest method to download blocked or disallowed attachments from Gmail. Going to guide you step by step ahead, read on.
Step 01 – Go to that particular email with an attachment and open that email. Find the three dots in the upper right corner and click on them and then click on “Show Original”.
Step 02 – Another tab will be opened on your Gmail with the original file and text. Click on the “Download Original” link. You will get a file named “original_msg.eml”.
Step 03: Click on the “Download Original” file to download the eml version of your email on your computer.
Step 04: – As you have already got an .eml file with your attached file; let’s move on and open it with any other Desktop email clients like Microsoft Outlook, Mail App on Mac or any other email client you are comfortable using. In this case, I am using Microsoft Outlook. Just locate that “original_msg.eml” file in your download folder, right-click on it and open over a desktop email client.
Step 05 – A pop up will be launched with your original file. Just right click on it and save that disallowed attachment to your computer. Bingo. 🙂
Hope this tutorial will help you properly.
Keep sharing the love if you found this useful. 🙂
Short Answer- To select specific attachments, hold Ctrl and left-click each row in turn. Alternatively, press Ctrl + A to highlight all attachments. Then, go to File > Copy Selected Attachments To (or press F4).
Answer- Generally, most people save files to the “Downloads” folder, so tap it. You’ll see a list of all the files you’ve downloaded.
1. Launch Mail from your Home screen.
2. Choose the email that contains the attachment.
3. Tap on the attachment to bring up the Share sheet.
4. Tap the share sheet button on the bottom left of the page.
5. Choose Save to Files.
To prevent inline attachments in all outgoing email messages, you need to change all outgoing email formats to HTML or Plain Text format.
